We would like to start this week’s message with a special mention to all the students who acted in or supported the Dodgen play.  What an amazing production and also thanks to Maria Karres-Williams for bringing this calibre of drama to our school.

Here is what’s happening in the next couple of weeks:-

Monday, March 31st - Dateline deadline.  Additionally, Pope Junior Football is having an open house for rising 6th, 7th & 8th Grade students and parents @ Pope Football Fieldhouse from 7:00p.m. - 8:30p.m.

Wednesday, April 2nd - PTSA Executive Board Meeting @ 9:00a.m.  Don’t forget it is Dodgen’s Eat Out Night @ Moe’s Southwest Grill.  They will donate 10% of your bill to Dodgen PTSA on the first Wednesday of the month.

Monday, April 7th - 11th - Spring Break.  Dodgen PTSA wishes you all a safe and happy holiday.

Here is what’s happening this week that might be of interest to our Dodgen Families:-

Monday, March 24th - 28th - 8th Grade Party tickets will again be on sale from 8:30a.m. to 9:15a.m. in the 8th Grade pod.  You can also get a form from the Dodgen PTSA website www.dodgenptsa.org on the “Forms” page; place completed form and $15.00 cash or check in the white PTSA box outside the front office.  Please note that no tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event - reserve your tickets this week.

Monday, March 24th - 28th - Tickets for the Dodgen play will be on sale for $7.00 each in the 6th, 7th and 8th Grade pods each day from 8:30a.m. - 9:00a.m.  Don’t miss your chance to see this year’s fabulous production by our own Dodgen students.

Monday, March 24th - Parent Orientation at 7:00p.m. in Walton High School for parents of rising 9th Graders.

Monday, March 24th - Pope Junior Cheerleading Parent Information Meeting for parents of current 6th and 7th Graders interested in Pope Junior Cheerleading @ 6:00p.m. in the Pope Media Center.

Tuesday, March 25th - Dodgen MS hosts a reception for Eastern Cobb County Council (ECCC) PTA and welcomes the county winners of the ”Honoring Our Heroes” essay contest and their heroes.  We would like to congratulate the winners from Dodgen, Jake Wachtel - 7th Grade, his hero is Mr. Duda and Angela Cannarell - 6th Grade, her hero is her dad.

Wednesday, March 26th - Environmental Club will meet at 8:15a.m. in Mrs. Barkley’s classroom.  The project this month is to clean up debris/trash around the pond and place recycling bins in four locations in the school.

Wednesday, March 26th - “The Price of Technology on Youth” @ Peachford Hospital from 7:00p.m. - 8:30p.m.  Details on the Dodgen PTSA website.

Friday, March 28th & Saturday, March 29th - The long awaited performance of the Dodgen play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream or The Night They Missed the Forest for the Trees” @ 7:30p.m. each evening in the Dodgen Theatre.  Not to be missed!

This week we would like to congratulate one of our students, George Fei - 7th Grade who is a PTA ”Reflections” winner for music composition at the PTA State level.  He will now go on to the PTA National level to be judged.  Congratulations George!

Congratulations also to Dodgen’s Science Olympiad Team, which placed first in last weekend’s regional competition.  Good luck to the team, which now advances to state competition at the end of March.

Wednesday, March 5th - PTSA Executive Board Meeting @ 9:00a.m.

Wednesday, March 5th - Our new “DODGEN EAT OUT NIGHT” location is Moe’s Southwest Grill on Johnson Ferry Road in the Parkaire Shopping Center.  Moe’s will donate 10% of your bill to Dodgen PTSA, on the first Wednesday of each month.  Simply write “Dodgen” on the back of your receipt and place it in the bowl near the register. 

 Friday, March 7th - The Awareness Club is having Breakfast Buddies @ 8:15a.m. with Mrs. Kemper and Mrs. Brezel’s classes.

*Wednesday, February 20th - “When Dieting Crosses the Line” @ Peachford Hospital from 10:00a.m. - 11:30a.m.  Learn about eating disorders and associated addictions, anxiety and depression.

*Thursday, February 21st - “Ignorance is No Defense” @ Lassiter HS from 7:00p.m. - 8:00p.m.  Through real-life examples, this seminar explains Georgia laws to teenagers (and parents) in easy-to-understand language.

Saturday, February 23rd - Good luck to Dodgen’s Science Olympiad team competing in the regional competition at GA State University.

Tuesday, February 26th - “Get the Scoop on Dodgen Night” at 7:00p.m.  A fun-filled evening to highlight the clubs and music departments of our school.  Students and families will enjoy an hour presentation with a short PTSA meeting.  An ice-cream social will follow immediately!  Please join us!  (Please also note that tickets for the 8th Grade Party will be on sale this evening.)

Wednesday, February 27th - The Environmental Club will meet in Ms. Barkley’s Science class at 8:15a.m. to make birdfeeders for our feathered friends!

Wednesday, February 27th - Meeting with Pope Counselors for parents of rising 9th Graders to Pope HS; by appointment only at Dodgen Middle School.  (Contact Dodgen MS Guidance dept. for appointment.)

Tuesday, February 5th - The Teacher of the Year brunch is being held by ECCC PTA.  Dodgen PTSA will be honoring our Principal, Mr. James Snell and the TOTY Mrs. LaTease Drawdy.

Tuesday, February 5th - “Program on Abstinence - The rules have changed; making healthy choices about sex” @ 7:00p.m. - 8:30p.m. in Dodgen Theatre. This is a free program that is suitable for parents and students.

Wednesday, February 6th - PTSA Executive Board meeting @ 9:00a.m.  Student’s early dismissal @ 2:15p.m.

Friday, February 8th - End of grading 4 1/2 weeks.  “Dirty Rose” group performing for students during lunch break. 

Saturday, February 9th - Chess tournament @ Webb Bridge MS

Reminder :- February 15th is the deadline for submission of “Honoring Our Heroes” essays.
